Safflower yellow color/extract

Safflower yellow color is extracted from the petals of safflower by extracting, refining, concentrating, and drying.

Studies have found that safflower yellow color is not only a valuable natural food coloring, with bright color, high-temperature resistance, high-pressure resistance, and anti-microbial advantages but also has a variety of pharmacological functions such as antioxidant, myocardial protection, blood pressure lowering, immunosuppression and brain protection.

Safflower yellow color is a yellow or brownish yellow powder, with a melting point of 230 °C, soluble in water, dilute ethanol, almost insoluble in absolute ethanol, and other organic solvents. It is yellow in an acidic solution and orange in an alkaline solution. The aqueous solution has strong heat resistance, reduction resistance, salt resistance, and bacterial resistance. Its color changes with pH. It does not change yellow color in acidic solution in the pH 2~7 range, and yellow-orange in alkaline solution.

Safflower yellow color is mainly used for fruity drinks, juice-based drinks, soft drinks, all kinds of fruit wine, prepared wine, candy, jam, canned fruit, ice products, concentrated fruit juice, ice cream, preserves, and jellies. It can also be used for coloring dishes and cooking foods.
